Where are you from?
I’m from a southern state in India called Kerala.
What did you want to be when you were younger?
It varied from time to time, but mostly, I wanted to be the driver of the largest vehicle I could lay my eyes on. First, I wanted to be a bus driver—until I got on a big boat. Then, for the next couple of years, I wanted to be a boat "driver".
Imagine my astonishment when I found out that drivers had to stop whenever the conductor signaled them (an Indian phenomenon) and couldn’t just drive wherever they wanted!
What led you to work in this field?
Being interested in computer science was the only way I could convince my parents to get me a laptop—just so I could play all the cool games. (Kids are so lucky these days!)
How would you describe your job and its responsibilities to small children?
Imagine a world full of toys, where the parent toys go to work. I help the parent toys by writing magic spells to help them finish their work faster, and I fix the spells if something goes wrong.
Do you prefer waking up early in the morning or staying up late?
I prefer staying up late and loathe the person who invented the alarm clock (I presume they were the child of a school teacher).
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
The superpower to fill my timesheets ‘on time’.
If you were to write a memoir about your life, what would you title it?
