ABTRAC runs in several modes.
The full version is installed as a desktop application on Windows XP or Vista.
For timesheet only users we have two additional (and optional) systems. One is
Abtrac Browser Based, where the user only needs a web browser. This enables them to enter their timesheets with the
database server being either on the same network or via a VPN connection. With Abtrac Browser Based, timesheet only users
can access Abtrac from a PC or a MAC.
We also have a popular PC based Abtrac Lite which enables timesheet only users to enter timesheets whether
connected to their server or not.
Abtrac will also run in the MAC environment as long as there is one PC or Windows server in the office onto
which we can set up some requisite files. We then set up the Mac users to log into the PC remotely to use Abtrac.
This gives them the full functionality of Abtrac from the Mac. In particular if there is a Windows server in the office
instead of a simple Windows PC, the number of concurrent users is scaleable.
The "back end" of Abtrac is optionally a SQL Server data file, or an MS Access database file. We are developing
other database back ends for the Linux environment. Presently for Linux servers we either run SQL Server on a PC
connected to the server, or we can run an Access data file straight on the Linux server.
All of Abtrac in whatever configuration comes on CD with its own suite of all required files. The installation
process can be done by an IT savvy in-house person. But usually Abtrac
people install it themselves before the first training session.
ABTRAC requires a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768 with small fonts. This is now a fairly standard minimum screen
setting. You must also have at least one printer set up on your PC.
The system is multi-user as of right. It can be installed onto a network from
day one, with additional charges per user according to our current scale of fees.
